Cara Burke
Cara is a New Hampshire native dancer and performer. She began her serious ballet training under the direction of Edra Toth, formerly of Boston Ballet, at Northeastern Ballet Theatre. She studied the ABT curriculum at Sole City Dance in Somersworth, NH. She has attended summer intensives at University of New Hampshire, Rory Freeman’s MOVE: The Initiative, and Joffrey’s New York City Jazz & Contemporary program.
Cara is a recent graduate of Boston Dance Theater as a member of their trainee program under Artistic Directors Jessie Jeanne Stinnett and Itzik Galili. She has performed in works by Boston’s Junichi Fukuda, and NYC’s Bessie Awards nominated choreographer Maleek Washington. With BDT she has understudied works by Yin Yue, Rosie Herrera, Rena Butler, Micaela Taylor, Marco Goecke and Itzik Galili. She was also a part of the first annual Lila Dance Festival in NH founded by Elyssa Bigos where she performed an original work by Hernan Martínez, an Argentinian based choreographer.
